| Based in the North East of England, Straitjacket can be heard on BBC Radio One's 'The
Milk Run' programme. Here they showcase a 30 minute collection of dark and surreal comedy sketches
in video format.
After forming in 2003, the Sunderland based comedy trio have sold out
four screenings of their original sketch comedy material in Newcastle Upon Tyne raising money for
charity and promoting their unique style. They also continue to write for the BBC Radio 1 show,
The Milk Run, where several sketches per week are aired. The comedy trio make their fringe debut
with their sketch show at The Canons Gait venue on the Royal Mile from August 17-24.
Straitjacket is a North East comedy group, who make original sketch
comedy for the screen. It comprises of Tom Bennett, Keith Dickinson and Ian Todd who together
write all of the material and shoot and edit the footage. Since they formed in October 2003,
Straitjacket have packed out local venues and continue to receive a great deal of positive local
press. Currently they are writing for the BBC Radio 1 show Milk Run and working with a BBC
producer on a comedy sketch show for Radio 4. The three were fortunately reunited after completing
their university degrees and decided to do their own brand of comedy with a blend of darkness,
randomness and the surreal. This somewhat unique fusion of humour gives Straitjacket a
comedy-style that is like no other. Straitjacket are imaginative, intelligent and adventurous with
their work in an attempt to distance the audience from reality through their original comedy. |
