| Three Stars from Three Weeks for Marc Blake |
| There were lots of laughs here; I
particularly enjoyed the idea of queuing at Beachy Head, but the only time the whole
audience laughed, as one was when a glass smashed behind the bar. Nevertheless, it was a
good set and seems to be developing all the time. Id say go along and have a titter;
it is free after all. |

| Three Weeks review of StraitJacket
Showcase |
| Straight Jacket have a dark and
surreal style of their own that comes somewhere near Lee and Herring. |
|
| Four Star review for The Big Hair
Show from three Weeks |
| Its not often that
youll get the chance to see a free comedy show on the Fringe that will actually make
you laugh. Usually with these kinds of shows, the comedians fail to be really funny but
that was certainly not the case tonight. Having no real theme to the show, the only common
ground between the comedians is their hair and were talking big hair. Each comedian:
Robin Cousins, Juliet Meyers and Johny Morris gave equally funny stand up sets and each
could easily pull in a crowd if they had charged for tickets. Its a free show that
will guarantee laughs, what more could you ask for? |

| Three Weeks reviews Funny for
Nothing |
| "The comics are
entertaining, particularly Chris Martin and Tony Richardson. Some of the jokes are quite
crude, but theres a nice range of topics covered, and the beer is cheap,
everyones very friendly, and hey, its free. Worth a visit." |

August - 3 Star Review for The Great Big
Comedy Picnic from Three Weeks |
| "This stand-up
selection upholds Festival traditions sadly lacking in many of this years' shows. It, and
the venue in general, allows the less-loaded festival goer to see new comics trying their
acts at all times of the day or night. For the grand total of zero pounds this show boasts
comics the equivalent of which you could easily find pocketing people's lovely Scottish
tenners at the Pleasance. OK, so the punch lines can take a while to get to, and are only
sometimes worth the wait, but with Sooty and Sweep jokes, lessons in Cornish and songs
about porn and 'Star Wars', this is an entertaining way to spend an afternoon and capture
the true spirit of the Festival." |

August - 4 Star Review From Three Weeks - Anthology - Free!
"Compère Andrew J. Lederer guides you through an hour (well
nearly) of FREE midday comedy, loosely based around the title Tales. Hilarity ensues with
stories from Dorothy Dwyer, on obscene phone calls, Brian Longwell and Dominic Frisbee, on
the joys of opening for Fulham FC and some random guy from the audience who fancied
himself as a bit of a comedian, all very random, all very funny. I particularly enjoyed
Brain Longwell, very dry, cynical and well, American. If you've been to see his 'Why
Work?' then you'll probably enjoy this. An impressive lunchtime buffet of thoroughly
entertaining comedy, and its FREE!!" |

From Three Weeks Weekly |
"When you all run out of cash in the middle of Week One of the Fringe,
you could do worse than investigate the Fringe programme being put on by the Laughing
Horse comedy club, because they have just confirmed that all their shows this year will be
free. |
|
|
| There will be 22 free shows on at
their venues at Canon's Gait and Lindsays, including the legendary Peter Buckley Hill who
will be performing his tenth free one-man show Stand-up Tragedy and Other Disasters, plus
regular 'showcase' events where comedians from other venues will offer snippets of their
shows for free. For full info on Laughing Horse's Free Fringe check http://www.laughinghorse.co.uk/edinburgh.htm |
|
|
| Of course there have always been
more free shows at the Fringe than you might first realize the BBC radio
recordings, Free & Easy at the Stand and the aforementioned Mr Buckley Hill being our
favourites. I am guessing we'll have a special guide to free events at the Fringe in
ThreeWeeks this August we have every other year for the last nine years, so I don't
see why this year will be any different." |
