Local Paper Review : "The Final of the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year Competition was held at the Laughing Horse, Richmond: the Brittania, Brewer's Lane, Richmond, on Sunday, February 17th. Over 250 acts took  part in heats and semi-finals across the Laughing Horse's seven London clubs throughout January and February, and these were whittled down to the ten acts showcasing their performances on Sunday. While the earlier heats and semi-finals had been judged by the audience, the final was judjed by a panel, which included the editor of Chortle.co.uk, The UK's leading comedy website and Peter Buckley-Hill, an esteemed veteran of the alternative comedy circuit. The club was packed for the final. The promoter, Alex Petty, noted that although 130 people managed to squeeze into the room, nearly 100 more were turned away. All 10 acts turned in magnificient performances, and the show was propelled by the club's quick-witted resident MC, Kevin McCarron. The second place, who receives headlining spots at the Laughing Horse Clubs across London was awarded to Paul Kerensa, and the winner, on what was only his fifth outing as a stand-up comedian, was Greg Davies, who won a Chinese sculpture depicting the Laughing Horse, £200, headline bookings throughout the year and promotion through the Laughing Horse around the country during 2002"
