| Mary Jane - an original comedy presenting the
life of Hollywood icon Mae West. Performance merges traditional vaudeville and burlesque with
contemporary stand-up. An accurate portrayal, delivered with gusto, in Mae West's indomitable style,
with sensuality and wit. When Mae West died in 1980,
she was a bit miffed about it. There was so much more to say. Believing in the afterlife as she did,
she knew it was just a matter of time before she would be reincarnated, or otherwise enter a new
being. |

But what vessel would adequately
house a Hollywood icon and sex goddess?
Who would possess the right
qualities for this possession?
The perfect carcass was soon to
be discovered in the voluptuous comedian, Martha McBrier.
Martha is the same age as Mae
West when she became a star. She has the same wise-cracking attitude, dripping with sass and
innuendo. More importantly she is the same height and bust size as Miss West.
This one-woman show, written by
Martha McBrier has been adapted from the play of the same name. It is most certainly a comedy, as
all the serious stuff has been removed, as Miss West performs stand-up. |
