Situated on Brunswick
street, just off of London Road and Leith Walk this venue is located outside the area
usually associated with the Fringe, but is a 5 minutes walk from the Jongleurs at the Omni
complex, and around 10 minutes walk from the Stand Comedy Club, Princes Street and Waverly
station. This venue
attracted high audiences in 2005 due to the Free nature of the shows, the number of shows,
and the publicity from the Fringe and through local people.
Both rooms at this venue are suited,
and aimed at stand-up comedy performance, however it is possible for small-scale theatre
or drama in the afternoon slots, or children's shows in the morning - but bear in mind the
limitations of the technical set-up and the amount of storage areas.
The club is well known locally, and
developed a good local following for our free shows at the venue in 2004 and 2005, with an
average evening show attendance of 50, and 20-50 at lunchtime and in the evening.
The Rooms
In 2005 Lindsay's prooved to be a
popular venue with performers and audiences - with a relaxed atmosphere, cheap drinks, a
beer garden and some nice rooms for shows - the basement room is ideally
suited to solo shows, and two/three hander type shows, being a very cosy and comfortable
show that generates a great atmosphere for the perfomers. Upstairs is a larger room with
more space, and can fit in a larger audience and is suited to both solo shows and larger
comedy club type shows.
In 2006 there will be two
additional outdoor performance spaces suited to stand-up perfomance, story telling,
site-specific works, drama and children's shows. |
