A
top class and tickety-boo, modern-day, old-fashioned British Radio Show. Hoorah!
Handy
hot hints, songs, characters, interviews, news, weather and so much more.
Madge
and Monty are the creations of Brian Damage and Krysstal a
unique comedy duo performing all around the UK and London Comedy Circuits. Madge provides tips on
sensible things to do with your hands and lots of jolly British advice for women. Monty is her
hapless, befuddled husband who gets in the way and sounds permanently sozzled. The pair appear to be
stuck in a time warp from around the 1940s a time of war, Pathé news, mending and making
do and being proud to be British. Hoorah!
Madge
and Monty host Radio Pear with plenty of old fashioned silliness. But theres also a comtemporary
feel as they introduce a variety of short programmes. News and weather intersperse with items
including the Book of the Week, Mucky Fingers the regular Gardening Programme, the Two Biddies as
roving reporters, Luvvie of the Week, Vox Pop interviews with the man or woman in the street, Terri
the Sheep Shearer and several comic songs.
Brian
and Krysstal play all the characters. The original idea was first conceived in 2003 and parts of Radio
Pear were seen in Edinburgh in 2004 receiving a four star review. Since then the duo have been very
busy gathering a host of characters to make up the new show.
The name Radio Pear comes from the Pear Shaped comedy clubs
which Brian and Krysstal co-promote and compere. Since meeting at the Edinburgh Festival in 2000 the
duo have worked as a musical comedy double act all over the UK, Ireland, Australia and also in South
Africa, Germany and Gozo (Malta). They have performed at numerous Festivals including: Glastonbury,
London Comedy Festival, (2001/02/04), Ludlow Arts Fest, Run To The
Sun (2002/04/06), Halesworth Arts Fest, Adelaide, Melbourne,
Woodford Folk Festival, Leicester Comedy Festival, Guildford
and of course Edinburgh (2000-06).
Legendary
Brian Damage and top strangely straight-woman Krysstal
are a one-off cross-genre act but they have echoes of The Bonzos, the heyday of music hall and some
rather seedy country and western club
